Definition

-  Piece of absorbent material for insertion into external auditory canal to allow medication administration & assist canal expansion

 

Features

-  Materials: cotton, compressed spongue, PVA

-  Kept saturated until canal open sufficiently for drops to be used

-  Cleaning may be required as canal opens +/- reinsertion of new wick

-  Come in different sizes

-  Lengths: 12mm to 24mm

-  Diameter: 7mm or 9mm

-  Otitis externa with obstructed external auditory canal

-  Keeps meds in contact with canal

-  Assists in opening canal by expanding
