Ix

-  Urine MSU Dipstick + MCS

-  If sexually active

-  First void urine NAT for Chlamydia trachomatis & Neisseria gonorrhoea

-  If urethral discharge

-  Urethral swab: Gram Stain + MCS for Neisseria gonorrhoea

 

Mx

-  If urinary tract source

-  Mild to moderate

-  Trimethoprim 300mg PO Daily 14 days

-  OR Cephalexin 500mg PO 12/24 14 days

-  Severe

-  Gentamicin 4-6mg/kg IV 2-3 doses

-  PLUS Amoxycillin 2g IV 6/24

-  If sexually acquired

-  Ceftriaxone 500mg IM/IV Daily 3 days

-  PLUS Azithromycin 1g PO single dose

-  PLUS

-  Doxycycline 100mg PO 12/24 14 days

-  OR Azithromycin 1g PO single dose 1 week later
