-  Estimated 80% adult population exposed at some time

Mx

-  Vaccine against HPV 16, 18 (cervical cancer)

-  Best given prior to sexual activity

-  Cervarix

-   MBS for women 10-45yrs

-  Gardasil

-   MBS for women 9-26yrs, boys 9-15yrs

-   Estimated 5yrs+ protection

-   Also covers HPV 6, 11

-  Dependant on presentation: warts, cervical cancer

-  Cervical changes picked up on Pap smear

 

Ix

-  HPV DNA: only recommended as test of cure post Mx of CIN2 or CIN3 (cervical cancer)
