-  Small urine reservoir created from segment of ileum

Indications

-  Urinary diversion

-  Cystectomy: most common reason

-  Neurogenic bladder dysfunction

-  Overactive detrusor with urge incontinence

-  Tuberculosis of bladder

 

Procedure

-  Laparotomy

-  Isolation of ileum & resection of 15-20cm

-  Anastomosis of bowel

-  Ureteroenteric anastomosis of ureters to reservoir

-  Stoma formed

-  Stents to bypass surgical site until healed

-  Bilaterally

-  Post-op

-  Removal of stents 1/52

Complications

-  Urinary leakage 3-5%

-  Usually occurs within 10/7

-  Stricture
