Definition

-  Wrist pain from the intersection of extensor pollicis brevis & abductor pollicus longus with extensor carpi radialis longus & brevis

Causes

-  Repetitive use injury: weight lifting, skiing, shoveling, raquet sports

-  Repeated flexion & extension

 

Associated S/S

-  Wrist pain

-  Pain & swelling over pos lat wrist: site of intersection

-  Referral to thumb or lateral forearm

-  Crepitus

 

DDx

-  DeQuervains Stenosynovitis: location of pain, more common

 

Ix

-  No imaging gernally required

-  Clinical Dx

 

Mx

-  Cease aggravating activities

-  Thumb spica splint: 3 weeks

-  Analgesia: NSAIDS: ibuprofen

-  Corticosteroid injections

-  Physiotherapy/OT

-  Sx: tendon release (rare)
