-  Irritation by salty, spicy or sour food

-  Loss of appetite

-  Complications

-  Abscess

-  Cellulitis

 

Causes

-  Trauma

-  Accidental biting of cheek

-  Toothbrush

-  Maligned or sharp teeth

-  Dentures or bracers

-  Burns from hot food

-  Poor oral hygiene

-  Infection

-  HSV (Cold Sore)

-  Oral Candida (Thrush)

-  Syphilus

-  Hand-foot-mouth disease

-  TB

-  Lip Ca

-  Nutropaenic Ulcer

-  Myelosupression: AML, ALL

-  Autoimmune Disease (AID)

-  AIDS

-  DM

-  IBD

-  SLE

-  Lichen Planus

-  Apthous Ulcers (Canker sore)

-  Idiopathic, vitamin def, IBD..

-  Crops of tiny white ulcers

-  Occur during times of stress or menstruation

 

Ix

-  Temp: infection

-  FBE: WBC: infection

-  ESR

-  +/- Biopsy: Ca

 

Mx

-  As per cause

-  Rinse mouth w warm salty water

-  Keep mouth clean

-  Paracetamol
