Dx by culture (pus, blood, tissue)

 

Mx

-  Natural resistance to wide range of Abx

-  Typically requires IV Abx or fluoroquinolones (Ciprofloxacin) oral

-  Gentamicin (aminoglycosides)

-  Some cephalosporins (Ceftazidime)

-  Piperacillin, Ticarcillin (resistant to all other penicillins)

-  Meropenem, Imipenem (Carbapenams)

-  Polymyxins

-  Monobactams
